Dear Parents and Athletes:
Welcome to the new 2024-2025 Fall/Indoor/Outdoor Season with D.C. Speed. We are excited that you and your athlete(s) will be joining/continuing with the D.C. Speed Family. Participation in the D.C. Speed Track & Field Club, like participation in other competitive sports teams, will require hard work and dedication on the part of the parent/guardian and the athlete, but we hope to make it an enjoyable experience that will be well worth the time spent.
Registration begins soon and throughout the year. We will continue to accept registrations until the max number of athletes has been reached. If you have friends, family, or colleagues whose children might be interested in track and field, please spread the word!
The fall season will begin in September 2024 (date pending); Indoor season will begin in November 2024 (date pending); Outdoor season will begin in March/April 2025 (date pending). Please see the Calendar tab for updated practice information. Meets for those who are competing are also posted to the Calendar. Again, please visit our website often to confirm practice and meet dates and times.
Please complete the initial registration information on-line at www.dcspeedtrackclub.com by navigating to the Registration tab and completing the form for each participating athlete WHEN REGISTRATION OPENS. It is important that we have all registrations completed by no later than the third day that an athlete attends practice for safety and liability reasons. In addition, all new competing athletes registering for the first time must email the team a legible copy of their birth certificate or other government-issued ID in order for the team to declare them for competition.
Registration fees for the 2023-24 Track and Field Seasons are as follows (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
|
The required AAU membership for competing athletes is included in the cost of the registration. If your child already has a current AAU membership, we will need the AAU number provided to us prior to the first competition. The club registration fee includes local competition/meet fees (except where noted), insurance coverage, AAU club membership costs, a t-shirt, and a small administrative fee that cover needs including, but not limited to, practice facility fees. We accept payments in the form of cash, check, money order, or credit card (with an additional transaction fee) made payable to D.C. Speed. PayPal is our preferred method of payment. All payment arrangements can be made by contacting Anjela Turner at dcspeedtrack@gmail.com. Any returned checks will be assessed a Return Check Fee of $50.00 and any future payments will only be accepted in the form of cash, certified check, credit card or money order. A deadline for payment for all fees will be set by the Board of Directors. Registration fees are non-refundable.
Athletes compete for advancement within the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), which may require travel for higher levels of competition. This means that fundraising will be critical to our team’s success and ability to send qualifying athletes on to those higher levels of competition. We ask each family to fundraise for the club, with the goal of $75 per athlete, through a variety of opportunities. The D.C. Speed Track & Field Booster Club, the corporate arm of the team, is a non-profit organization formed to administratively manage the team and seek funding sources. We will need your ideas, time, and participation this season and beyond, so please stay tuned for more details.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any member of our Executive Board or to our Head Coach. Again, we are pleased that you and your athlete(s) have chosen D.C. Speed.
Sincerely,
Anjela Turner
